The Magpayong Rocks (also known as “Mushroom Rocks“) in the municipality of Moalboal, Cebu, is a kind of tidal rock formation.
Description
The word “magpayong” is derived from Cebuano dialect word “payong”, which means an “umbrella” because the rock formation resembles an umbrella. It is also called a “mushroom rock” because it resembles mushroom. There are multiple rock formations in the area.
Accessibility
It can be accessed in an unpaved road via motorcycle or car. It is best to visit it during low tide so that a large portion of rock will be visible.
Few moments after I arrived in the area, I saw that it was raining not very far behind the rock formation along with thick clouds above which also resembled like a huge mushroom, so I turned on my camera right away and took a shot. The result can be seen in the middle photo from the three photos above.
